Core Convictions
Scripture Reliant
We know the Holy Bible as the inerrant, unfailing, and inspired Word of God, without any mixture of error. In a world that is increasingly confused and disorienting, we hold to the timeless Word of God, which provides the only rightful foundation for families and individuals to grow and thrive.
Gospel Focused
Jesus Christ is our blueprint. The Gospel teaches us clearly: He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life — no one comes to the Father except through Him.
Mission Minded
Too many churches take themselves too seriously. We believe His yoke is easy, and His burden is light; therefore, church should be as accessible and welcoming as possible.
Authentic Community
We reject fake and superficial connection. This is a community where we can be honest about our struggles and find the support we need. No Perfect People Allowed.
Generational Legacy
Our vision extends beyond the present moment. We are investing in a spiritual heritage that will guide the next generations to Jesus Christ.
What We Believe
Above all else...
Jesus Christ is Lord.
Here is the short version: We believe the Bible is the true Word of God and the final authority in all things. We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who created all things and is still working in the world. We believe salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ, meaning there is no way to buy your way to heaven with good deeds. We worship Jesus, whose life, death, and resurrection bring sinners to God. The Church is the body of Christ, called to gather in worship, grow in discipleship, and go in faithful obedience. We are called to live our earthly Christian lives with love, holiness, and service.
We share a common heritage with the very first missions that came to West Tyler in 1854. While times and cultures have changed, our orders have remained the same: worship Jesus Christ, build community, and pass on our faith to the next generation.
Community Church holds to a traditional evangelical and baptistic Christian faith (meaning we dunk people in the water after they believe in Jesus). Likewise, our formal 'Statement of Faith' is the BF&M 2000. We also affirm the Nicene Creed and other historic statements. Not everyone knows what that means, so we linked them below in case you want to read them 👇🏼
